Creating a Business Idea Based on Indigenous Upakara Waste, the Valbi Team Won First Place in the Business Plan Millennial Connect Business Competition 2023.
Denpasar, Press The Bureau of BEM FEB Unud-Udayana University's Faculty of Economics and Business students, namely the Valbi Team, consisting of three students from the Bachelor of Accounting Study Program class of 2020, namely Gusti Ayu Amanda Gita Dewi Darmapatni, Agus Erik Wistika Putra, and Made Agus Darma Cahyadi, won first place in the national-level Millennial Connect Business Competition competition held on March 3–4, 2023. The Millennial Connect Business Competition is a competition that provides opportunities for students throughout Indonesia to improve their skills in finding business opportunities from problems that exist around them and become a forum for developing potential in creative and innovative marketing planning. The Valbi Team managed to prove its ability and compete with 27 other teams from universities throughout Indonesia.
The journey taken by the Valbi Team to become a champion was not easy. In this national-level business idea competition organized by the Millennial Connect Business Competition, the Valbi Team had to fight with dozens of other teams to win. In a relatively short time, Gita and her colleagues conducted research on current issues and continued to consult with their peers, who were also FEB Unud students. The Valbi Team's journey was not without obstacles. "In terms of time, at that time we were interns and had busy schedules and different schedules, so we had to steal time to make proposals and presentations. So we were always chasing deadlines," said Gita. However, this became a challenge that pushed the Valbi Team's adrenaline to focus more on the work they were going to submit. "Chased by the deadline? Relax; just face it. The point is not to make the race a burden; just make the race a fun activity and habit. It will be fun when we enjoy the process without high expectations of the results," said Gita.
Although all Valdi Team members are quite experienced in similar competitions, Erik and his colleagues never underestimate their competition. With a sociopreneur-themed business idea. The Valdi Team raised an issue that revolves around the Balinese community, namely the large amount of traditional upakara waste produced by the Balinese people. Co-Mang is a social-based business made by the Valdi Team by processing traditional upakara waste into briquette products, aromatherapy candles, and diffusers. This revolutionary idea made Darma and his colleagues win first place in the Business Plan Millennial Connect Business Competition. The Valdi Team also advised FEB Unud students not to be afraid to try; the competition is there as a place to try new things. Losing is okay because winning is not the ultimate goal.
